Installation of Photographs, fishing line, clips

This installation interrogates the paradoxical relationship between "poor images"* and the material legacy of alternative photographic processes. Through blurred impressions, chemically eroded emulsions, solarized prints that reject legibility, and compositions that embrace ambiguity, I challenge the historical presumption that analog techniques inherently demand precision, permanence, or narrative clarity.
*"Poor images" (borrowing Hito Steyerl’s term) here refer to images compromised by glitches, low resolution, or material decay.</image:caption>

"Chair" is a sculptural work where I’m testing the spontaneity of plaster. This work aims to prompt us to re-examine the products in industrial civilization and explore the various possibilities of functional items.</image:caption>

This is a group of lumen and chromoskedasic sabatier prints on paper, which I created based on the scenes I’ve seen in my dreams. This series of works aims to explore the possibility of using photography to record dreams. When the subjects do not exist in reality, can we still take photos?</image:caption>

"Gallery" is an imaginary gallery exhibition I created in a handmade wood box. It was a curatory action without rules and restrictions; a miniature person could enter this exhibition and get completely lost with the experience. In this work, I aim to explore where the boundaries of art lie; and in a hypothetical exhibition, what roles would the audience and the curator respectively play?</image:caption>
"Sweet but Fragile" is the first installment I created that invites the viewers to engage with it. The idea came from a random concept I had after breaking a wine glass in the kitchen: glass chocolate nachos. I invited my audience to apply chocolate syrup anywhere in this installation, and observed the result as a continuous process. In this work, I explored how the audience’s participation functions as a medium within my piece, and to what extent their participation would reshape my work.</image:caption>

Series of "Postmodern Ground"
Concrete, saw dust mix, found objects
2025-26

This work begins with a tension: the realization that technological civilization is both the condition of our survival and the architecture of our alienation. Technology extends our capacities, yet it reorganizes our desires; it offers efficiency, also it narrows the horizons of what we can imagine.

Following Herbert Marcuse’s critique of technological rationality, I am drawn to the ways in which progress becomes indistinguishable from exhaustion: how the same structures that build our world also hollow it out from within. In this sense, technology is not merely an external machine but a field of forces that shapes the human body, redirects attention, and redefines what counts as reality.

In this work, technology is not understood as machinery or digital devices, but as a mode of rationality. Following Herbert Marcuse, I consider technology as a system that organizes matter, bodies, and space according to efficiency, control, and function. It is a way of thinking embedded in materials and structures, shaping how civilization is built and how human life is managed. Rather than describing technological objects, my installation examines the residues of this logic: where systems persist without purpose, and materials remain after meaning has been exhausted.

The materials I work with: concrete, saw dust, and industrial remnants, carry the weight of this contradiction. They are the fragments of a civilization that constructs itself through extraction, compression, and repetition. Yet within these heavy and inert materials, I search for traces of vulnerability: fractures, emptiness, surfaces that once held perfection or pressure. What emerges is neither ruin nor monument, but a liminal form that swings between the mechanical and the organic.

This installation is an attempt to inhabit that in-between space. It asks how we might position ourselves within a system that both sustains and overwhelms us. It does not seek resolution, but a balance: a way of noticing the subtle negotiations between the body and the structures that surround it.

If balance exists, it is not a stable state but a continuous practice: an ongoing effort to remain human within a world increasingly defined by what is not.</image:caption>

I use the slow collapse of fruit and bread as a way to think about flow beyond what the eye can trace. Decay is not a failure of matter, but its continuous movement; moisture migrating through softening skin, spores drifting outward in quiet spirals, sugars breaking apart under the work of invisible lives. What looks still is already in motion. The mold blooming across the surface becomes a kind of writing: a reminder that all food carries its own future, and that transformation is the most natural rhythm of life. In the camera’s frame, these ordinary objects reveal themselves as temporary constellations of energy and time, caught in the brief moment before they become something else.</image:caption>
The subject is not present to itself, but is constituted in the spacing and temporising process of différance.

The meaning of this work is what you indicate it is. According to Jacques Derrida, meaning is forever "deferred" or postponed through an endless chain of signifiers. I could not find an exact way to describe the meaning behind this work, therefore it is for the viewer to interpret.

This work exists at the intersection of chaos and clarity, where fragments of the familiar collide with the uncanny. I’m examining the tension between order and disruption, crafting visual dialogues that ask questions rather than deliver answers. Through layers of texture, symbolism, and unexpected pairings, I seek to unsettle the predictable, inviting viewers to linger in the ambiguity of what is seen and unseen.
Fragments become a language. Chaos becomes a kind of order.</image:caption>
